The Atomium

The Atomium is one of the best buildings I've ever seen. Well, it's more of a sculpture, but it's absolutely massive, and makes we wish that I'd done a real engineering degree so that I could build this kind of stuff.

External

The thing is 100 meters high, but it's difficult to get an idea of the size of it from photos.


Internal

An elevator goes up the central column, which takes you to the top sphere. From the top you get amazing views around Heyzel Park, and as a bonus can spy on Mini-Europe withouth paying the entrance price.


Repairs

They were doing repairs when I was there, and the workmen clambering around below made me feel quite ill.
